EFAPCO

EFAPCO - European Federation of the Associations of Professional Congress Organisers

Founded in 2004 as a result of an initiative taken by the associations of PCOs from six European countries: Belgium - BAPCO, Spain - SPAIN OPC, Greece - HAPCO, Italy - ITALIA PCO; Poland - ACCD; Portugal - APOPC; UK - ABPCO.

Later joined by: Germany - GCB PCO Group, France - FSCEF; Hungary - Maresz; and Ireland - AIPC.

EFAPCO aims to support the sector  of the Congresses  in the Europe, to enhance the profile of the conference industry as a whole,  as well as to provide networking and educational opportunities for the professional congress organizers in Europe.

EFAPCO, a nonprofit organization based in Brussels, complements the national activity of its members, by allowing PCOs to have a unique voice in Europe. Combining the potential of PCOs with a more solid international experience, EFAPCO casts the MI (Meeting Industry), reinforces the status of the professional organizers of congresses and events in Europe, helping to improve the competitiveness of the region.

The EFAPCO was founded because of the urgent need felt by PCOs from EU countries, to address common problems such as: the recognition and institutionalization of the profession, the certification and upgrading of services, the scarcity of graduate and postgraduate education in the sector and the loss of market share in EU countries to congress and business tourism destinations elsewhere in the world.
